Construction
Segmented
A wide conical bowl, quiet on the outside, opening onto a scalloped orange interior.
Seen from the side this is a plain conical bowl in warm mahogany, with the segment joints running clean down to a narrow foot. Nothing on the outside prepares you for the inside.
The interior is laid up in overlapping scallops of dyed orange veneer against grey and cream, each arc stepping over the one below it so the whole surface reads like a feather. It is the clearest example of what the dyed birch veneers do that no hardwood can.
Every piece here was cut, glued and turned by the same pair of hands.
