Construction
Segmented
A globe-bodied vase with a deep collar, ringed by concentric arcs in yellow, green and red.
The body is turned close to a true globe and finished in near-black, with a deep collar rising from the shoulder and opening into a wide dark mouth. Above and below the patterned course sit plain bands of red-brown and gold.
The band itself is a run of nested arcs in yellow, green, red and natural wood, repeating around the full circumference. Greens and yellows at that strength come from the dyed veneers rather than from any timber.
Every piece here was cut, glued and turned by the same pair of hands.
